Hogacre Harvest!

OxGrow is teaming up with the lovely people at Hogacre Common Eco-Park to have a Harvest Festival to celebrate all the fun we’ve had and everything we’ve learned while turning Corpus Christi College’s sportsground into a community space over the last seven months. Join us!

Come along any time between 12 and 4pm for an OxGrow work-party, apple pressing, conker fights, music and poetry, potato and spoon races, slug hunts, a go on the bicycle-powered smoothie maker, a slice of cake (some made using Hogacre Honey!), a talk from an expert on growing exotic crops in the UK, local food (some made from OxGrow’s harvest), local beer, the hand-over of our rent (a jar of honey) to Corpus Christi College’s bursar (a.k.a the landowner) and the much-awaited switch-on of Hogacre’s wind brand new wind turbine!

For the day-time event, bring friends (of all ages), gluts of apples to press, cakes for the “bring and buy cake sale”, gluts of veg from your allotment to swap on our “veg swap stall”, and perhaps a picnic in case we are over-run by festival-goers and run out of food…

From 6pm til late, after the kids go home, we will be having a sing-song around a bonfire, watching a film
(www.wastelandmovie.com), and cooking up a pot of shark-fin melon soup!

For the evening’s events, bring musical instruments (even if they’re covered in cob-webs), food and drink to share (apples or spuds to bake in the fire?), a spring in your step and a twinkle in your eye!

If you fancy helping out on the day, come along at 11am when we’ll be dealing out (fun) jobs, or just find someone who looks busy when you arrive and ask how you can get stuck in!

Hope to see you there!

Harvest love,

OxGrow
